Bugsplosion was my first serious attempt at creating a solid game, and I am proud of the result. It's a retro style arcade game for both iOS and Android and can be downloaded for free on Google Play and the App Store.
Bugsplosion is a collaboration with the very talented bitpop musician Brandon Walsh, and every song in the game is his handiwork.
Color Gems is the first game I published on the App Store. Idea to finished game took me about a week.
I like how all the visual effects turned out; animations are fluid and everything feels responsive. The controls are hard in the beginning though, and the game mechanics are pretty bad. The goal is to collect the gems when their color matches the ship (they constantly change color), but it didn't turn out as intuitive as I thought.
This was a very quick gyroscope experiment, hence the super generic name. As you can see in the video, the ship is controlled by pivoting the phone. The controls feel pretty good in my opinion, but none of my testers really liked it.
It will remain a prototype.
Punch Out (iOS)
I've been toying with the idea of creating a boxing game for iOS and Android for a while, using the same basic concept as one of my favourite NES games; Punch Out. I had an idea on how to use the touch screen as a controller, but I wasn't sure if it would feel right. So, I programmed the first boss in Punch Out to try it out!
Turns out the controls feel fine! Might make a full boxing game in the future, we'll see.
